Watch your kids swim in the heated pool while you relax at the sidelines with a book and a strawberry daiquiri. For a different kind of water enjoyment, you might eventually want to go over to the private sand beach for lake swimming, a game of volleyball, intellectual banter on the life-sized chessboard, or just baking in the sun.
Many of our members do not care to own a boat themselves; they prefer to use one of ours for the occasion at hand: a lake cruise and on-the-water picnic with a bunch of friends on a comfortable Tritoon, water skiing, and tubing behind a speedboat, or just riding around on a PWC. Others keep their own cruiser year around at OYC but use one of our Runabouts for waterskiing, kayaks for leisurely paddling, and inflatables for rowing.
And for sailing enthusiasts, we have a choice among a 32-ft cruiser and a 25-ft racer. During the season, there are regattas to join or to watch from the sidelines.
If you would like to bring a boat from your garage, you may launch it from our boat ramp. OYC members enjoy substantial discounts when using our water toys.
Commonly, members meet at the Café for breakfast and Bloody Marys’ to share their adventures of the night before, commiserate about politics, and plan for the day ahead.
OYC organizes several public events throughout the year: Valentine Brunch, Parade of Lights, Midsummer Night’s Dream Beach Party, Labor Day Picnic on the Beach, Bikefest, Octoberfest, and Halloween.
In addition, we host 3rd-parties such as the Jazz Club, Swing Dance Club, and others, which welcome guests to their performances.
For indoor gatherings of 50 – 150 wedding guests, business associates, and customers we offer the elegant Anchor Room, complete with a jumbo screen, stage, bar, and buffet dining. Casual events of similar size may be hosted on Princess Beach – also sporting a stage, food & beverage barn, pavilion, volleyball court, jumbo chess, horseshoes, and bonfire pit.
Smaller groups up to 50 persons may be hosted at the Beachside House or Spinnaker Room & Crow’s Nest Balcony. When closed for dining, the Lakeside Café, promenade, decks, and floating stage may also be reserved for private events of up to 60 guests.
On the other end of the spectrum, you may consider booking a tent at our picturesque outdoor sports complex for 100 – 400 of your closest friends. Of course, OYC members enjoy substantial discounts when booking event venues and associated services.
During the season, the Cafe opens daily for cinnamon chips, coffee, award-winning Eggs Benedict, and other a-la-carte cuisines; on weekends we also serve a luscious brunch at the Spinnaker Room and balcony together with easy listening music. Of course, OYC members enjoy substantial dining discounts.
The Crooked Mile hiking trail stretches from the north end of the property to the south along the water, east and back north, rising a cumulative elevation of 140ft. Still a work in progress scheduled for completion in 2021, the 1-mile long path runs in part on our private roads and on rugged gravel ground through the woods of oak and hickory. Along the way are several stations for exercise, rest, and relaxing views of the lake.
The Meadows sports venue sits attractively nested by a wall of rock and hickory woods. Members can play baseball, youth soccer, and the newly popular pickleball. Arrangements are also being made to host local pickleball tournaments. Moreover, you may watch lazy boaters while doing a workout at the floating fitness facility.
It is great to have out-of-town company visit you for a few days and, perhaps, even more enjoyable to have the bunch of them stay at our lakeside villas so that both hosts and guests may enjoy some rest, personal time and -perhaps – exercise between larger gatherings. And of course, OYC members enjoy substantial lodging discounts.
